The historical wine town of Retz on the slopes of the Manhartsberg holds countless art treasures and points of interest. The massive main square with its magnificent bourgeois houses and wealth of shops tempt you to linger. Steeped in this old-world atmosphere, the visitor will be attracted by the many things to explore which are hidden behind the town's facades.

a trip in Retz

There are lots of speciality food shops, and if you can't get enough of the local wine here is the chance to stock up your cellar.

Austria's only remaining working windmill is even more famous than Retz's other jewels like the town hall, the Sgraffito-house or the Dominican church.

The wine town offers a particular attraction in form of a walk through the town's historic wine cellars. The widely branching labyrinth has recently become even more attractive, with parts of it being transformed into an amusement cellar - with plenty of surprises in store!

Cyclists are particularly well catered for, with 416 kilometres of themed cycle paths. This is boundless cycling pleasure because it is possible to explore not only the region around Retz on the Austrian side but also the Czech side.
